Winter

Wow, has it really been 2 months since I blogged......ugh!
I had a shock on January 7th......was laying on the couch watching TV with the kids and I heard the tornado sirens going off.....muted the TV and sure enough they were. Got the kids into shoes and down to the basement they went while I was at the top of the stairs looking out the window. For the first time in my life there was a Winter tornado touch down and man was it messy. It was actually the first Winter one in the state of Illinois since 1957! It was classified as an F2 and destroyed and I do mean destroyed 5 homes and the Edwards Apple Orchard.....damaged 11-14 more. Thankfully no one was killed but 4 people were seriously injured and 1 was critical but pulled through. The community rallied around and help was quickly offered and received! Local farmers showed up at the damaged dairy farm with supplies and generators and as it was milking time managed to get all the cows milked before dark and before their udders froze! This community I am a part of has some truly awesome people in it. I am thankful no one died and that it veered off when it did and went rural instead of through our town.
My kids are doing good. Getting bigger everyday! Robbie got his report card and is doing much better! Brian is still struggling and he is so hyper in class that he just cannot sit still. I hate to but we may need to do something about that. Courtney is doing well....you would never know she had surgery a few months back. All that is left is a scar that is already fading.
Social Security denied me for the second time. I decided I am not pursuing this alone anymore and so I see an Attorney this coming Wed...I hope he will take my case....if he doesn't I may give up because it is so depressing. But darn it I can't give up....Rob is getting laid off from Chrysler on or about Feb 22nd and as far as we know it may be permanent. He is laid off right now and has been all last week. He goes back to work this Tuesday though.
